There is so much hype on the market, don't fall for the I heat 2400 square feet with two units. If you live in a cold state your will find yourself disappointed. I can not express enough that these are supplemental heaters designed to heat about 600-800 square ft regardless of the brand. They all are putting out about 1500 watts which is the highest you can go before you need 220v.

Your heating abilities will certainly depend on your insulation, quality of windows, etc. Keep in mind that if you are trying to heat an 800 square foot room but you have additional hallways or perhaps even an open basement, you are actually trying to heat more area.

Although in many cases people have used these as a sole form of heat, it is best to run them in conjunction with your main heating. The idea is to take the blunt off the more expensive forms of heat and put much of it on the Infrared Heater, which is less expensive to run.

It is quite fine to run the unit consistantly. If it is a quality unit like Solar Comfort, this will not be a problem.

Charles,

Thank you for setting up this forum. I have been in a quandry over which of these heaters work well. They all seem to profess the same benefits.  Your site is the only one that provides helpful information without the hype. I appreciate you taking the time to do this.

Hi Frank,

You are welcome. We are very frustrated ourselves with the over hype. The heaters are wonderful with their true capabilities and benefits and do not need to by over promised. It really hurts the industry in general.

I am sure that the heaters have done the size areas they are claiming, but under what inside and outside temperature and what time of year. It just is not realistic.

I am not sure if you have been to our main site. However, if not go here http://www.solarcomfortheating.com .

I have to admit that your claims seem by and far the most honest.

We bought a ComfortZone heater last year and there is no way that it could be used as an only form of heat here in NE Pennsylvania. In the fall and in the spring, Yes. But in the winter, No.  In fact I would estimate that the area we have the heater in is no more than 800 square feet and most of the time the heater maintains a temperature of only 62°F in the winter with our furnace thermostat turned down to 58°F.  When the outside temperature goes frigid in the single digits or below 0°F then the furnace comes on because the ComfortZone heater can't maintain even the 62°F.

We are happy with the heater because it is still great supplementary heat and saves us a lot of money on kerosene which is the fuel our hot air furnace runs on. In fact, last winter we only used about 90 gallons of kerosene and we normally use about 350 to 400 gallons.

Just wanted to let you know that I appreciate your honesty in advertising and if I had it to do over, I would buy your unit. Actually my parents are considering an infrared heater.  How long does it take for shipping to my area?

Scuba Steve,

Thank you for you nice comments. We truly want to contribute to cleaning the industry of over promising and put pressure on those that do.

These units are very effective with the actual capability they are realistically toated for.

By the way, thank you for your purchase of our Solar Comfort Heater.
