The Comfortzone seems to be a more reliable heater than the Edenpure but has no real track record so it's hard to tell. There are not many reviews of the product. It also  has a plastic case like the Edenpure. Does anyone have any experience with the Comfortzone?

Hi Frank,

Obviously we are a dealer of Solar Comfort. However, we are also very knowledgeable of the ComfortZone and Edenpure. I also have the ComfortZone in which I have as a comparison demo and have been in and out of it.

The reason you do not find much on ComfortZone is that they only came out in 2007. They don't have any form of track record yet.

The first thing that I found with the ComfortZone, is that they have MAJOR growing pains. Their warranty also is strictly between  you and your dealer and not the manufacturer. If your dealer goes out so can your warranty. In fact, I called their company regarding this as I at one time was potentially interested in their product prior to doing more research. As they said, they do not have information on the product and the warranty is between you and your dealer.

In addition, one of the lamps failed on my ComfortZone after 3 weeks or so. The factory would not get me a replacement.I asked if I could even just pay for it and they would not sell directly. My dealer also does not carry parts, like most of their dealers.  If you have any issues you will more than likely have to send the item back through mail.

One big difference between Edenpure and ComfortZone is the number of bulbs. ComfortZone has 4 and Edenpure has 6. They both use basically the same bulbs. The main things I don't like about either of them is the plastic and digital components. We have had many customers come in that have used these brands and were not happy. Also we recently had a customer come in with a testimonial that said she has ComfortZone and the Solar Comfort exceeded the ComfortZone.

Hope this helps,

Charles

so first off I just wanted to say that asking about a product at a competitors site is probably not the best place Tongue

I guess that the first thing I wanted to address was the warranty. I have a CZInfrared (Comfort Zone) 1500 and I have been pretty happy with it and with the warranty. Its worked well but I was carrying the heater downstairs to dry out the bathroom after an unfortunate mess and dropped it but stopped it from continuing down the stairs by catching the cord... my point is that about a day later I noticed that it didn't seem as hot. Since I didn't keep my receipt/contact info from the distributor I called the manufactures # that was part of the owners manual. The manufacturer took care of my issue with straight away by offering to send out a set of bulbs or have the unit picked up or a third option of offering to send a voucher and the bulbs so a local repair man could repair it if I felt uncomfortable. Being competent I took the self service route and replaced the bulb myself. It was easy and gave me a chance to see how it was put together. A good build I have to say.  After troubleshooting and offering to send out my part they advised me they are happy to help and that I can also contact my distributor for in person help in the future.

As far as the plastic comments its only the outside case thats plastic and the heating portion is enclosed in a full metal frame and if anything where as plastic may melt its less likely to catch fire than wood. Also most all of theses units put out about the same BTU's regardless of the # of bulbs. The bulbs in the comfortzone have a heat exchanger built into them that actually looked kinda cool like a mid evil weapon. My understanding is the biggest benefit is the infrared heat since it heats a whole lot better than my 700/1500w coil heater I had bought to heat my bathroom.

Hi,

In reply to you post. I am glad they helped. I personally was commented by the company that they will not warranty unless I bought it through the main companies website. This is per them. They stated that "my warranty was between me and the person I bought it from.

In addition, if you do a search on the companies name who sells the heater, you will find that it is in financial troubles. That would be my biggest concern about future warranties of parts. I am not going to go into details on this. However, search and it is public knowledge.

Regarding our comments on plastic heaters and their dangers. I would personally be concerned leaving one unattended that has a plastic case. Although any unit getting hot enough to melt thick plastic is an obvious hazard, I certainly would not want to fill my home with the toxicity either. The heating and cooling of plastic has been known to emit toxins even when there is not failure.

Each person will need to make their own judgement. However, we back the Solar Comfort for the simplicity, the double walled metal and the fact that they have been successful as a company for nearly 30 years.

Hope this helps.
