Of all the solar radiant heaters I've researched the Edenpure seems to have very high failure rates and poor service from what I have read. Based on my research I have to conclude they 1 don't work well and 2 are of poor quality construction and 3 are unreliable. The most disturbing information I have seen is that the plastic cases melt. I have seen pictures on the internet of one melted case on an Edenpure. I can't believe they can sell the Edenpure if it is a fire hazard. It was my original choice but now I'm no longer inclined to even consider it as an option. Then I heard the GEN 3 is improved and of better quality. Does anyone have any information on them?

Edenpure has only been out since about 2003. They do the most print advertising by far. They sell a lot of them and due to this will get a larger problem base due to it.

However, the real fact is that like the Comfort Zone, they are plastic in critical areas. When they overheat inside they are likely to melt. Overheating can be caused by not cleaning the filter on time or a part failure.

The image of the melted Edenpure was likely from us in which we have a polaroid image of our customer's Edenpure that melted.

Keep in mind when you get a ComfortZone, you get the plastic and the basic same bulbs. You also get the digital gadgetry that will certainly fail. ComfortZone came out in 2007 and was created by a distributor for Edenpure. In fact if you call ComfortZone they still cell the Edenpure bulbs.

Also, with all the digital gadgets and on/off feature style, your heater will not turn back on its own after a surge or power failure. Solar Comfort will!

Again, look over our entire site for more info- http://www.solarcomfortheating.com and http://www.citysurfin.com

Thanks,

Charles
